| The premise for the
website was born early in 2005, after finding a new found love for
Manhunt and there being nowhere on the Internet to further delve
into or discuss the game we became frustrated at the lack of online
resources for the title. At the time, I was still a University student,
as my studies were partly graphic and web based media the idea of
making a Manhunt website suddenly went from idea to concept and
by March of the year there was finished version of the site.
Those same studies also meant that the site was to remain dormant
until October; we uploaded part of the website to a free Geocities
account, the following month the site was picked up by the ‘Games
Devotion Network’.
The problem we now faced was that the site had no official title,
as it was never actively planned to be published no tagline was
ever thought of. With increasing pressure from our host- to-be the
title ‘Manhunt Uncut’ was quickly thought up, the idea
behind the title was a play on the concept of there being an edited
version of Manhunt in existence, which is the (false) claim of many.
On November 20th 2005 the site went online, the forums were created
and the first news post was published, the site was officially live
and members began to post and spread word of the site. Within a
single week we had 30 members posting on the message forums.
Due to complications with our site host we decided to go at it
on our own and on March 09th 2007 we registered the domain Project
Manhunt. We spent the days following converting all the site content
from one server to another before finally launching the site on
March 31st 2007.
In changing servers and domain name we unfortunately lost all of
our achievements we had obtained while known under that banner but
what we gained was creative freedom and a more appropriate title.

| The actual design of this layout is unfortunately lost at
current time. What you see above is a rough approximation of
how the site looked. The first thing you will notice is how
everything is addressed as though it is taken from a film, such
as 'cast and crew', this theme was continued all through these
sites design. The colouring was also significantly different
from what was used on the forthcoming designs. The primary purpose
of this design was to be used as a personal archive of Manhunt
information; this is very evident from looking at the design
as it is not particularly web friendly and is more inapt for
say CD-ROM or for storage on your own computer. |

| This was the first version of the site to be used publicly;
it went through various little changes. Such as the logo being
added, then it was changed to a Christmas banner, followed by
a complete overhaul. The actual menu even changed around four
times, and the reason behind this was that some of the page
titles were a little misleading. The content and way in which
it was displayed was also altered through time, such as the
table format, colouring and backgrounds. Sections where also
added, including the trivia and features section. |

| After 5 months of altering the content it was finally decided
to go ahead and create a new design in order to deal with many
of the problems that had been popping up. Many concepts where
created and tested before settling on what you currently see,
the primary objectives with this layout where to create a more
user friendly, interactive, content full website that would
be easy to update thus being able to be kept on-line for a longer
period of time. |

| As soon as Manhunt 2 was announced we had to think about getting
a newer version of the site online, and as quickly as possible,
the old layout was working so in order to save time we decided
to just enhance it rather than start from scratch. We have titled
this version 3.5 since we don't believe it was a big enough
change to warrant being version 4 but was a significant amount
of work so it is the mid way point. |

| Due to complications with our site host we decided to part
ways and host the site by ourselves, along the way we had to
change the domain name from Manhunt Uncut to Project Manhunt.
As all the versions up until this point were under the Manhunt
Uncut banner it meant that there was conflict in content and
imagery on the site. The changes were minimal and mostly consisted
of removing ties to Manhunt Uncut, including advertisements
and dead page space as inflicted by our previous host. |

| The goal with version four of the site was to redo the whole
site, we wanted to remove all ties and limitations that remained
in place due to our previous host. This meant a complete redesign,
a new colour scheme and page format, the approach taken was
to try and make the site more future proof, translated: easier
to update. Along the way we further categorised the site so
to appear less intimidating to first time visitors. |
