Manhunt 2 gets even sicker and more violent than ever.

Videogame Nasty

Expect a media shitstorm the size of which we haven't seen since, well, the original Manhunt back in 2003 when the ever nastier stuff'em up sequel is finally released on PlayStation 2 this May.

Stabbing people with a needle, stoving their heads in with a baseball bat, blowing their balls off with a shotgun, and pulling a plastic bag over their heads and capping them are just some of the delightful ways you can kill enemies, all of which are certain to trigger a tabloid campaign to get the game banned - particularly in the wake of recent shootings in London and an overall increase in gun crime.

Back to the game and you can expect a similar mix of stealthy suspense punctuated by graphic violence as your initially mild-mannered family man Daniel Lamb is toyed with by a sicko doctor and incarcerated in an asylum. The first screenshots show one inmate who has hanged himself and another crumpled to the floor having been beaten by a pair of bloodied asylum workers, so it's no surprise that others show Lamb trying to escape in scenes reminiscent of Sam Fisher's prison breakout in Splinter Cell Double Agent.

Things appear to take a turn for the better, because another location is the brothel. However, it isn't long before you're fighting off waves of suited bald assassins with black masks over their mouths, who look scarily like Agent 47 from Hitman.

We're definitely intrigued by what we've seen so far, and the hardcore unforgiving violence means it's a game that everyone will be talking about. Mission accomplished for Rockstar then.
