This week marks the 10 year anniversary of the release of Manhunt on the PlayStation 2. That means we can no longer use our fingers to count how many years have passed, we could use our toes to help, but the touching of shoes is somewhat problematic amongst the locals.
While we are celebrating milestones I think it is also worth noting that we have been bringing you Manhunt coverage and keeping the community alive for over 8 years now.
Thanks to everyone who has been involved over the past eight plus years.
Here's to the future! If we can find a way to continue keeping track of the years, that is.
Today marks the official launch of Grand Theft Auto Online on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
In order to access Grand Theft Auto Online you will first need to download a title update for Grand Theft Auto V. The latest title update also includes fixes for stored vehicles disappearing and various other bugs.
GTA News | Grand Theft Auto The Official Trailer Released
You can now view the latest Grand Theft Auto V trailer, this latest trailer is simply titled "The Official Trailer" suggesting that it may be the final trailer we see for the game. At the very least I imagine we will see TV spot between now and the game launching.
At the time of posting we are just over two weeks from the launch of Grand Theft Auto V.
GTA News | Grand Theft Auto Online Gameplay Trailer Out
Rockstar recently released the first Grand Theft Auto Online gameplay trailer.
At the same time they announced that although Grand Theft Auto Online is included with your purchase of Grand Theft Auto V it won't officially launch until the 1st of October. The reason given for the slight delay is because the team considers it to be a seperate entity to Grand Theft Auto V.
Earlier today Roockstar published a Grand Theft Auto V related "Asked & Answered" on the Rockstar Newswire. In the A&A they say that game play footage of the game is on the way and say that vehicles and weapons are highly customisable.
They also reiterate that the multiplayer portion of Grand Theft Auto V is named Grand Theft Auto Online. The fact that they continue to refer to it by an independent title to the “multiplayer portion” of Grand Theft Auto V makes me wonder if they plan to have the online stand alone, outside of the core game. Other notable titles to take such an approach recently include Killzone 3 and Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception.
It was also revealed that Grand Theft Auto V will ship on 2 discs on the Xbox 360 and requires at least 8GB of free space on your Xbox 360 hard drive or an external 16GB USB flash drive. The PlayStation 3 version of the game will also have a mandatory 8GB installation in order to play the game.
The fact that Rockstar is able to divulge such technical details at this point suggests that the game is far into the process of optimisation on both platforms, this should come as great news to fans of the series as it suggests that they are on schedule to deliver the game this September.
PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 owners can pick up Grand Theft Auto V from the 17th of September this year.
GTA News | GTA V Pre-Order Details / The Warriors Out on PSN
Rockstar recently announced that they will be releasing a special edition and a collectors edition of Grand Theft Auto V, in addition to the regular version of the game for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. In addition all pre-orders, regardless of platform or edition, will get access to the Atomic Blimp in-game vehicle (presumable available for download with a single use code).
The special edition includes the following:
- Collectible SteelBook with Exclusive Artwork - Blueprint Map - Special Ability Boost - Stunt Plane Trials - Bonus Outfits, Tattoos and More - Additional Weapons
The collectors edition includes the special edition version of the game in addition to the following:
- Grand Theft Auto V Security Deposit Bag with Logo Key - Grand Theft Auto V New Era 9FIFTY™ Snapback Cap - Custom Characters for Grand Theft Auto Online - Unique Vehicles and Garage Property
In North America the recommended retail price for the special edition is $79.99 and $149.99 for the collectors edition. UK/EU prices seem to vary from country to country with specific retailers holding exclusives over the various versions.
Both the special edition and collectors edition are available for pre-order until the 17th of September 2013.
After a bit of a false start the PlayStation 2 classic The Warriors is now officially available for purchase on the PlayStation Network. As with other Rockstar classic releases the game is available for $9.99 in North America, £7.99 in the UK and €9.99 in the rest of Europe. As before this is an emulation rather than a HD remaster of the PlayStation 2 version of the game.
Manhunt News | Manhunt Coming to PlayStation Network
Rockstar have announced that they plan to release the PlayStation 2 classic Manhunt on the PlayStation Network next week! This will no doubt come as a very welcome addition to many as it has been a repeated query of PlayStation 3 owners for a few years now.
You can expect the game to set you back $9.99 in North America, £7.99 in the UK and €9.99 in the rest of Europe. The game will be included as part of the scheduled PlayStation Store updates, this usually works out to be late Tuesday night in North America and Wednesday afternoon in Europe.
At the same time, Rockstar have also confirmed that The Warriors will be officially making its way to the PlayStation Network as well. There’s no word on Manhunt 2 hitting PSN, but you have got to figure it isn’t too far off.
As with past PlayStation Network releases these will be PlayStation 2 emulations rather than HD remasters. Although this November does mark a decade since the release of Manhunt, a HD collection would be pretty good – just saying...
