Hi all,

I am a huge fan of Manhunt, I am also an ex-Rockstar North developer. I was working on Vice City, watching the guys make Manhunt, secretly thinking, wow I want to make a game just like that! So Here we are 20 years later, technology has allowed me to make a game inspired by Manhunt all on my own :-) It is live on Kickstarter now if you want to check it out. Of course it will never be Manhunt, but if you are desperate for something quite similar, then this is it :-)

Also feel free to suggest any ideas or give constructive criticism on this thread.

Cheers,
Gaz.

Damn looks amazing. Sadly i have no money to donate, if i did id bankroll the whole project. Is there character customization? If not that'd be a much wanted feature. You worked on Vice City? Huge respect for you as that's my favorite ps2 gta game. If your project gets made id like a autographed copy.

I don't know if I should be sceptical that someone who apparently worked for R* north, on Vice City no less is posting on this dead forum or I should give you the benefit of the doubt and believe you are who you say you are. Whatever the case that video looks nice and no I won't be donating to your kickstarter as I'm not a charity. Perhaps you're better off doing your begging elsewhere.

I usually give people benefit of the doubt till proven otherwise. The video does look very good like it was done with some degree of skill at least.

Thanks guys, sadly I don't think it is going to make it! Yes that link is my portfolio (I have much more to add when I get time). I mainly posted here because it seemed like the best manhunt forum, and I figured since I was using manhunt for inspiration you guys might be the most interested. I wouldn't call it begging as such (and it's not like I am rich, sitting in my overdraft now with about £6 left on it lol, mostly because I work on indie games 6 months of the year). Plus you have to get the link out when you do a kickstarter (and you get a free copy of the game at discount). It's a shame that I still don't know how people get a real buzz going, this is my second failed one lol. Anyway stay tuned it will still come out eventually, it will actually also be included inside a larger project I am working on called Genocide Dolphins which may or may not remind you of a very very strange Vice City :-)

I would not trust any kickstarter attempts. Ever. The video game industry (especially now) is a con artists playground.

"and you get a free copy of the game at discount" - Throwing around the word free, while implying those who donate get a discount. Also known as not FREE. Misuse of the word free just like Free DLCs in modern games that cost money to own. Dishonest marketing. Similar to "free to play" games.

Kickstarter isn't begging. It's e-begging. Just like Patrecon accounts, and Twitch cam whores who "stream video games."

Bishop you should open a Patrecon account. People on the net love to blindly throw their money away when Patrecon is involved. Don't know why..

Yeah the free DLC is not free. It's just part of the game that wasn't developed when the early access version launched. That's being said, at least Rockstar doesn't rush a game out every single year. I'm on the fence with today's Rockstar. Should be interesting to see how they handle their next game concerning microtrans, cosmetic DLCs, etc.

Personally, I prefer buying a complete game in one package when development is truly wrapped up.

They sure do rush out the gta online dlc though. Its like damn they just released the smuggling hangars and they've already said there will be more buildings for sale by years end its hard to keep up anymore. I hate this microtransaction shit its making people forget how to play a game and enjoy it instead they just bitch about "grinding for hours" instead of calling it "playing the game". Hopefully independent game makers this guy who made the topic wont add them to thier games.

Indies are usually a straight-forward one game for one price. However they often ask for being paid in advance which makes no sense to me. Then they might release the alpha version with a price tag and call it early access. It's silly.

Don't get me wrong about letting Rockstar slide. The very inclusion of GTA Online was a complete waste of time and just a way to sell Shark cards to impatient morons. And as is tradition, the next Rockstar game will have even more microtrans because people payed for GTA V. While a few whales bought Shark cards. That's what we are to your modern game dev/publishers. We are hopefully "whales."

I'm just glad to see how Rockstar retained some dignity for quite a long time while your typical EA or 2K started the anti-consumer practices so much earlier.

Bottom line - I only buy older video games now, or possibly indies. I only buy completed products.

Same here I've been scouring for any old consoles i can find and always keep my eyes open for old games for them. I refuse to be part of this online multiplayer gaming is popular so everyone does it bullshit and pay to win gaming future id rather live in the past where gamers were considered nerds or antisocial weirdos playing in darkened room for hours by themselves and it took actual skill to win.
